No one can see God, but the Son is exactly like God.
God was pleased for all of himself to live in the Son.
Colossians 1:15-20
The Son is a perfect copy of God’s nature.
Hebrews 1:3
At some point every person asks this question.
Here’s the answer!
Jesus is the “perfect copy of God.” He’s exactly like God. Everything about God comes to full expression in the person and work of Jesus. Let this percolate in your heart and mind!
E. Stanley Jones, lifelong missionary to India and prolific author, said this about the revelation of God in Jesus. “Jesus said if you want to know what God is like look at me. “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me.” (John 14:6) We see the Father in the face of Jesus. God is like Jesus in character. Transfer every characteristic of Jesus to God. Jesus is the last word that can be said about God.”
The telescope was invented to see that which couldn’t be seen by the human eye alone. The most famous example today is the Hubble telescope. Check this out. “The Hubble Space Telescope’s eXtreme Deep Field image allows scientists to see galaxies more than 13 billion light years away.” (Time, Science) A light year is 5,878,625,373,183.607731 miles. Now, if you dare, multiply that number by 13,000,000,000. By contrast, “The farthest distance a human eye can detect a flame is 1.6 miles. (How Far Can the Human Eye See?)
So, what’s the point? Before Hubble what telescopes saw was like a grain of sand on the shores of Lake Michigan. And now, we’re being told that Hubble has merely scratched the surface of what’s there. David wrote: “God’s glory is on tour in the skies,
God-craft on exhibit across the horizon.” (Psalm 19:1-2) This is the observation of a shepherd on a mountain side at night. Think about all that was UNKNOWABLE to David!
Jesus said: “The only one who has seen the Father is the one who has come from him. No one else has ever seen the Father.” (John 6:46) ) “Certainly, God is so great that he is beyond our understanding.” (Job 36:26)  Without the telescope of Jesus we are completely in “the dark” about God. He makes the UNknow-able … knowable. He reveals the Father’s Heart!
So, to see God one must get connected to Jesus, the telescope. Have you made the connection? (cf. Connection to Jesus)Â
