The Father’s Heart – 4

Above all, God is FATHER! That’s what I asserted in the last blog. OK, you’re skeptical. Perhaps you’re thinking, “Given the world’s condition, how can there be a Father behind the whole deal?” I shall offer proof from John’s Gospel. All citations are WORDS OF JESUS

Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. (John 5:19)

For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. (John 5:20)

The works that the Father has given me to finish—the very works that I am doing—testify that the Father has sent me. (John 5:36-37)

For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life. (John 6:40)

No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. (John 6:46)

Just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. (John 10:15)

I and the Father are one. (John 10:30)

For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken. (John 12:49)

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. (John 15:9)

I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. (John 15:15)

When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me. (John 15:26)

I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father. (John 16:28)

And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began. (John 17:4)

Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. (John 17:24

There you have it, proof positive! The central characteristic of God is that he is FATHER. That’s what Jesus believed; so, I think you can “take it to the bank“!
