âTeacher, which command in GOD’S LAW? is the most important?â
Jesus answered him, ââYou shall LOVEÂ the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, and with all your mindâ.
âYou shall LOVEÂ your neighbor as you LOVE Â yourselfâ.”
Matthew 22:37
“Every year, the millions of tulips planted in parks and gardens and lanes around Holland, Michigan, draw thousands of visitors from all over the world.” (https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/tulip-time-festival)
The “being-ness“ of a tulip is rooted in the DNA laws of “tulip-ness.” (I warned you!) A tulip will always “be“ a tulip. It has no choice. It’s impossible for it to be some other flower.            Â
Jesus was asked: how were humans designed to operate? Jesus’ answer? The LAW of Human-Being-Ness is LOVE. As a reflection of God’s BEING, “God is love…” (1 John 4:16), humans were designed to LOVE. Anthropologist Ashley Montagu asked: “What is the nature of life? The answer can be expressed in one word, LOVE.“
Make yourselves at home in my love. If you keep my commands, youâll remain intimately at home in my love. (John 15:9-10) Strange! {Commands/Love}Â Carl Jung, the famous Swiss psychiatrist, wrote: “[Love] demands unconditional trust and expects absolute surrender.”
ONLY against this background can one properly understand the following.
God commanded the man: âOf the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat.â (Genesis 2:15-17) Eve took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, and he also ate it. (Genesis 3:6)
[Back to the tulip] “A tulip knows exactly what it is. It is never tempted by false ways of being. In being what God means [it] to be, [it] is obeying Him.” (David Benner, The Gift of Being Yourself, p 16)Â
“Love with all your heart…” Adam and Eve defied The Law of Human-Being-Ness! Â Rather than “unconditional trust” and “absolute surrender” to the Source of Love, they broke the law! The result? They became DIS-EASED! ” They had a fatal heart attack!
